In keeping with my style, I will be sharing a modern minimalist take on the traditional red and white! I have been tweaking this look for weeks so I am really excited to share my red and white modern holiday mantel! The holidays are the perfect time to dress up your home, and I love incorporating traditional colors like red and white. These colors are festive and look gorgeous with greenery and twinkle lights. So without further ado, let me show you how I put my red and white modern holiday mantel together!
Nothing screams classic Christmas like red berries, pine and eucalyptus greenery, pretty packages and twinkle lights. I incorporated all of these elements into my mantel and shelf styling this year and I use all of these decor items year after year. Reusing Christmas decor in different parts of your home each year is a great way to refresh your holiday decor without having to purchase all new decor. A few years ago, I put together a blog post all about money saving tips for the holidays - you can find that blog post here.
To achieve this look, I layered one faux garland of pine with one faux garland of eucalyptus. I fluffed up the branches nicely and intertwined the two garlands to give the mantel a cohesive look. I then layered in faux red berry picks and some battery operated twinkle lights. I love the way the twinkle lights and red berries peek through between the stocking holders.
To keep things consistent, I always like styling my shelves the same way I style my mantel. I used similar elements of white with pops of red. I also repeated similar elements including my favorite silver reindeer and some white and silver mini Christmas trees.
I haven't used packages to decorate my shelves before, but I am really glad I did this year. These white and red packages add the perfect pop of color and provide a really nice festive touch to my shelf decor. They also add a lot of height to decor items and create a lot of visual interest. I might have to repeat this look year after year!
Bottle brush trees are another great inexpensive way to style shelves. I purchase and make a few each year (I now have a very large collection!) and sprinkle them throughout my home. I made a few simple ones last year out of snowflakes which you can find here. They add the perfect touch of whimsy and are great for creating little holiday vignettes.
And there you have it! A red and white modern holiday mantel that was really easy to put together! If you love this look or re-create it in your home, I would love to hear from you!
