Hello hello! I'm uber excited to be kicking off the spring 2021 One Room Challenge as a featured designer ... WHAT? I cannot believe those words as I am typing this blog post. Never, did I EVER, think that I would be a featured designer, but if you have been reading my blog for a while now, you know I LOVE the One Room Challenge. This twice yearly design event has been a huge part of my growth especially in terms of DIY and design. With every challenge, I have sharpened my skill set and honed my eye for design and so I am ever so grateful to be a featured designer this season. This is my fifth challenge (do you believe me when I say I have an ORC problem!) and I have enjoyed every minute of my past challenges. Before I dive into the room that I will be making over, I really need to extend a large thank you to Linda, the creator of the One Room Challenge. I knew that the One Room Challenge is a lot of work to organize, but I had no idea how MUCH work goes on behind the scenes to put this biannual event together.
So which room will I be making over for the One Room Challenge? ... dun dun dun ....
Our Main Guest Bedroom & Bath!
These rooms REALLY need my attention! The bedroom is heavily used and has undergone a phase one superficial makeover. I've added some furniture, some art on the wall and a pretty wreath, but it is still pretty bare bone and character-less. My bathroom is totally builder grade, and the only thing I like about it is the vanity and quartz counter.
The before is not horrifying, but more so EMBARRASSING that this is the sad state of affairs just passed my two story fireplace.
So what ideas do I have for this space? Well the bedroom and bathroom are very long, but narrow. Because there isn't a lot of depth to play with, things like adding a cozy fireplace or a massive TV feature wall are out of the question. This DOES mean that I will be working with things that I can change, like the large wall behind the bedroom and a fun accent wall in the bathroom.
Now I know you want to see a mood board, but I want to share some inspiration pics first ....
Now here's my design board for the guest bedroom & bathroom. I should warn you, that these things are not set in stone and I may (I probably will!) change things as I go along!
