Classic Traditional Holiday Home Tour

Hello friends and welcome to my holiday home tour! It's been a while since I have shared on here and I have a big update! We moved! This summer, we moved into my dream neighborhood and purchased a home on a lake. This home is a quite traditional and very different stylistically from my last home. Nevertheless, I have really enjoyed decking the halls and hope to inspire you with a new look for the holidays this year!

For this tour, I am partaking in the Blogger's Best - Holiday Home Tour with some very talented bloggers. Our tours are filled with holiday decor tips all from unique styles of homes - so there is something for everyone during this week long blog hop! Be sure to check out everyone on the tour at the very end of this post.

This year, I've come up with some new themes and color schemes. I have mixed and matched several ornaments, ribbons and picks this year but also thrown in new ones - so without further ado, grab a cup of hot cocoa, tea or coffee and let's jump right into it!

As you enter my home, you are greeted by a beautiful lake view and my great room. This year, I really went all out in that room, so I kept my entryway fairly simple. A flocked wreath, my favorite reindeer and a mini tree farm is all it took to make this entryway festive and holiday ready.

This entryway is fairly neutral but you may have guessed from the ribbon that this year I went with the traditional color of red. I actually mixed things up by pairing red ribbon with deeper shades of burgundy and dusty blue. This really odd color combination worked very beautifully in my great room.

You may notice that I added two Christmas trees to my great room. This was totally intentional to fill up space but also to create some visual interest. I varied the size and height of the trees, but also the needle type to add some texture. Finally, as you look up close, they have different sets of ribbons, picks and ornaments. Despite these differences in styling, these Christmas trees really do complement each other.

I added in quite the assortment of ornaments including mercury glass of various shapes, traditional gold baubles and even paper ones. I also varied the thickness and finish of the ribbon and used an assortment of velvet, burlap, satin and foil. The special touch has to be the birds of various colors sprinkled throughout the tree.

I finished off these Christmas trees with plush fur blankets, gift boxes and a pedestal bowl of ornaments filled with gold baubles.

Let's move on to my favorite part of this classic traditional holiday home tour - the mantel and my shelves. I have to say, every year I look forward to decking out my mantel and bringing out my favorite Christmas trinkets to style my shelves. In years past, I had a very simple mantel with a large TV - so not a lot of space to swag out my garland. But this year I had the chance to drape and twist 12 different garlands of cedar, pine, Norfolk, eucalyptus and berries into this dreamy mantel and I'm so delighted!

In true Simplicite style, I added a few gold and mother of pearl branches and topped off this mantel with my favorite peacock and red ribbon.

As we move over slightly, you will see my shelves peeking through. Little glimpses of reindeer, holiday houses, bottle brush trees and candles always put a smile on my face.

Next up and last on my tour is my dining room. This year, I opted for a red, white and pink tree - something I have never done before. Despite this home being traditional in style, it is still very open concept, so I wanted to make sure the color schemes blended well.

This room just looks darling! With the ornaments hung from the chandelier and the windows. I opted for ornaments with different finishes and textures to create visual interest but still keep the overall look cohesive.

I finished off this tree with a few glass trees and holiday houses.

This year I kept things fairly simple on the dining table with a few holiday houses, bottle brush trees and some reindeer.

And that's it for this year's Classic Traditional Holiday Home tour! I will leave you will a few more peeks around my home.

There are so many more homes decked and styled on this week long blog hop - so be sure to check them out!

Thanks again for visiting me this season! My holiday porch and kitchen are up next and I will be sharing in the next couple of weeks. Be sure to stop by and check it out!
