Hello friends! Welcome to my Cheery Modern Holiday Home Tour! This year, I am taking part in a holiday home tour with some of my favorite blogger friends! The tours this year run over two days and are filled with holiday inspiration that are sure to leave you with some amazing decor ideas. So be sure to scroll down to the very bottom check out all the participants. We all have a unique style of decorating - so there is something for everyone over the next few days!
I guess you could say this year I was really craving color! In the past I have stuck to my neutral style with the occasional pop of red or pink, but this year I wanted bright and bold! If you have been following me for a while, you know that I am fairly minimalistic in my decorating style EXCEPT for when it comes to Christmas – I really go ALLLLL out. And this year was no exception. If you are new here and visiting from Jen’s home … WELCOME! Happy you are here. I absolutely love Jen’s take on classic Christmas!
Let’s start with a view into my two story great room. Several years ago, I made over this space for the One Room Challenge (you can find that link here), and I look forward to decorating this room every holiday season. I decided on a jewel tone Christmas theme and I love how the colors pop against the flocked white tree.
The ornaments I added this year made me think of vintage Christmas. I love how the navy, plum, raspberry and teal tones work in the tree!
I extended this color scheme onto my built in shelves where I displayed several of my bottle brush trees.
As we make our way into my dining room, you will see that I opted for classic red and gold Christmas in here. Initially, I thought I would add another jewel tone Christmas tree, but I caught a glimpse of my shiny red ornaments in storage and decided on a whim to change the theme. I’m so glad I did, because I love how this tree looks here!
To add dimension to this tree, I filled it with flocked branches, white tinsel, gold garland and ribbon, red ribbon and shiny red ornaments. I also pulled out my beloved red cardinal ornaments and grouped them in the tree. Aren’t they so darling?
Instead of the traditional tablescape, I tried something a little different this year. I decided to create a Christmas village with an assortment houses and trees that I have collected over the years. To dress them up, I added three dimensional stickers to the fronts and sides of the tree and I love how they now match with the colors in the tree! These stickers are totally removable, so next year I can dress up these houses to create a different look!
I usually don’t dress up my bar area for the holidays, but this year I decided to add a few mini Christmas trees, mercury glass votives and a large lantern filled with bottle brush trees, white tinsel and twinkle lights. The festive touches are simple, but I think they complement the bright and bold look in the dining room.
Let’s head upstairs to my daughter’s room for a look into her nursery. Many of you know that absolutely LOVE decorating her room for the holidays. I look forward to it year after year and I love creating different looks. This year, I created these gorgeous paper snowflakes from wrapping paper. I spotted these rolls at Home Goods and I had to have them. These pretty whimsical snowflakes were really easy to create (I shared a how to on Instagram this week – feel free to check it out!) and look darling next to this tree.
My daughter’s tree this year is sparser than previous years and I love the look! I feel that in these sparse trees, you can really see the tree trimmings well and they are in line with the whimsical theme. I decided to try my hand at clustering several ornaments together. I mixed matte red, mercury glass pink, copper and champagne ornaments together. The striped pink ribbon and assortment of ornaments really add a lot of cheer to this tree!
