It's week 2 of the One Room Challenge and my excitement has continued to rise! For this six week challenge, I am making over my master bedroom with the hopes of turning it into a complete retreat. Here's where I started:
If you want to get an idea of my initial design plan and goals for the One Room Challenge, check out my post for week one (HERE).
So what happened over the past 7 days (I'm sure you are all intrigued!)? Well a lot of effort went into planning the details of my master bedroom overhaul. But none of that effort has translated into anything visible or tangible yet! I spent the majority of the week figuring out my accent wall behind the bed, and how I was going to create my diy credenza. I dabbled in some paint color ideas, purchased a chair and ordered the perfect wall sconces. Let me show you:
One
The Bedroom Accent Wall
Over the past year, I have seen some beautiful accent walls that incorporate simple trim work along with moody glossy paint colors. Every time I come across one of those walls, I am left swooning! The One Room Challenge was the perfect opportunity to push the envelop and incorporate this into my vision for my master bedroom. I am so excited to see it come to life, but am also so nervous about doing this for the first time! In order to pull off this accent wall, I purchased several tools including a miter saw and a nail gun! And I pulled out my husband's drill. I never thought I would be using power tools - but I think this is going to be fun!
Two
Fifty Shades of Grey (or Blue, or White!)
My entire house is painted in the same shade of white (so conservative of me huh!), but I have to say that I just love how bright and airy it looks looks. I have also been drawn to white walls, because it is the perfect neutral background that allows the accents and furniture in your home to pop. That being said, I am ready for a change (but only in my master bedroom!). To bring the trim accent wall to life, I hope to choose a paint color that adds dimension and drama to the room. I am really loving the deeper shades of grey and navy and feel this would bring that wow factor. Stay tuned to see what I decide next week!
Three
I Found The Chair
I have always dreamt of having a reading nook in my master bedroom. But my bedroom does not have a ton of space, so I was on the hunt for a slender chair with modern lines that really did not take up too much room by the window. Oh, and I was on a strict budget! After hunting (for literally 6 months!) I found it. In the perfect shade of grey. And at the perfect price point (score!). Here she is!
Four
I Found The Sconces
If you look back at my post for week one of the One Room Challenge (here), you can see that sconces were no where part of the plan and I was leaning towards bedside table lamps. Well everything changed when I saw these beauties at an outlet store. I had to get them! Again, for a fraction of the price and in the perfect silver ombre - I swear it was fate!
Well there you have it friends! This week was all about planning things out, so that there is little room for error (I hope!) I'll be hitting the ground running next week, so be sure to join me on here and on my Instagram stories!
